Add upload work that overlaps

Video calls send your camera and microphone upstream. Cameras may upload when motion events overlap, and a livestream can use much more upload than ordinary browsing. Count only the activity that may overlap at the busiest time.

Large backups and uploads are different because the same file can finish slowly or quickly. Open Improve my result and enter the size and desired completion time instead of assigning a fixed Mbps value.

Compare the right plan number

Look for Typical Upload on the provider's Broadband Facts label. A symmetric connection offers similar download and upload capacity; a plan with the same headline download speed can have much less upload capacity.

The recommendation is a capacity plan, not a promise of call quality or transfer completion time. Wi-Fi, congestion, latency, packet loss, and the remote service still matter.
